It's About Love

Follow the Signs #1

Signs are important.  Signs tell us if we should go straight or turn, to exit or to enter. Without the proper signs it would be difficult to know whether or not we are going in the right direction.

But sometimes even signs can be confusing or unclear. And sometimes we miss the sign we were looking for and don't realize it until later.

People have been looking for "signs" for knowing God. But sometimes the signs seem confusing or unclear, when in fact God has laid out a road complete with signs for people who want to know Him.

Are you looking for the road to God? Fortunately for you, me, and anyone else who wants to find Him, God has shown us the road in the Bible. Some people call this the "Roman Road" because the signs are found in the New Testament book of Romans. The first sign is found in Romans 3:23.

Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
You and I and everyone that has ever stepped upon this earth (except one, that is Jesus) have sinned.   We cannot will ourselves to stop sinning, it is our nature. The word for sin here literally means "missing the mark".  We may not intend to, but we all have gone the wrong way.

Romans 6:23 says, "The wages of sin is death, but the free gift from God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord."
Going down the wrong road will lead to eternal death. What we earn (wages) because of our sin is death. This scripture is not talking about just a physical death, but an eternal separation from God.  Even though we deserve death, God has given us the gift of His son, Jesus Christ. It is through our faith in Jesus that we receive eternal life.
